Monday, 12 April 2010 11:39

The Demographic Winter: Challenges and Opportunities for the Pro-Life Community (Friday, April 23 in Smithers and Saturday April 24 in Houston): Had enough of winter already? We are only just entering it. The entire western world is radically changing as a result of a rapidly declining fertility rate. An economic melt-down, stressed health-care system, and violent clashes over immigration and competing worldviews are just some examples of the big-picture consequences of society's choices. Now, more than ever, our world needs to hear the positive message that human life is a treasure that must be protected. Being pro-life goes beyond protecting the vulnerable. It also gives hope to a world that is only just beginning to enter a long and dark demographic winter.

Thursday, 08 April 2010 15:56

ARPA Action Item: Please send Mr. Blackett a thank-you note This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for speaking up, and encourage him to make the necesary changes to the Alberta HRC (even getting rid of it) to correct this long-standing problem.

CBC.ca, April 8 2010: The minister responsible for the Alberta Human Rights Commission says a complaint about an anti-gay letter to a Red Deer newspaper should never have gone before the commission. "It's not there to mediate hurt feelings caused by some words or not," said Culture Minister Lindsay Blackett. "If it's hateful, then that's a hate crime. And that's something for the Crown attorneys and the police services to investigate." [Click here to keep reading]

ARPA Submission to Ontario Government Regarding Bill 242
Monday, 29 March 2010 09:33

Attached below is ARPA Canada's submission to the Ontario government in response to the legislation that aims to expand institutionalized early-learning in Ontario. Bill 242 proposes to fund full-day kindergarten and junior kindergarten (for 4 and 5-year olds) at a projected cost of 1.8 billion dollars annually. In this submission, ARPA Canada encourages the Ontario government ot abandon this legislation because it will provide minimal help for children while further eroding the parent-child relationship that is critical for effective education, all at a staggering cost to Ontario taxpayers.

Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely (Part 1)
Monday, 29 March 2010 15:04
Power and Rightly Ordered Love  (Part one of two)

Written for www.ARPACanada.ca by James Zekveld: Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.  Few thoughts encapsulate the history of human political action more.  Without the seemingly natural devolvement from power to corruption, old empires might still exist, poverty might have ended long ago and communism might be a legitimate though unnecessary option in the world today.  Power among Christians is hardly an exception to this rule.  Two questions present themselves.  How do we overcome corruption and how do we minimize the potential for corruption?  The second will be left for a later article.  The first is answered through an understanding of the order God has put into this world.  To keep ourselves from corruption we must have a rightly ordered love; love that God has placed into the world from the beginning, when He created the world.
